Researchers are investigating oral elastin peptides—smaller fragments made from elastin—as ingredients for skin supplements. Human studies are still limited, but there are findings worth understanding.
A closer look at one clinical trial
A 2024 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study tested a specific fish-derived ingredient, VGPG Elastin®. Researchers reported improvements in instrument-measured wrinkle parameters and hydration compared with placebo.2
What that means for Aeternum: this was an ingredient study, not a trial of Aeternum’s product. Its preparation and dose differ from ours. It did not directly measure skin elasticity, and a higher dose does not establish a greater benefit. Results are not guaranteed.
Promising research deserves context. The trial lasted 12 weeks, its efficacy analysis included 84 participants, and the participants were predominantly women aged 35–60. More research is needed to understand how results translate across different products and people.

A few good questions.
Is elastin the same as collagen?
No. They are different proteins with complementary structural roles. Collagen contributes strength; elastic fibers help tissues stretch and recoil. Research on collagen supplements cannot automatically be applied to elastin supplements.
How do I take Aeternum Marine Elastin?
Follow the label: take two capsules daily with a meal. Each capsule contains 500mg, giving 1,000mg per serving. A 60-capsule bottle provides 30 days; a 180-capsule bottle provides 90 days.
How soon should I expect a difference?
There is no established timeline for this product. The study discussed above tested a different elastin ingredient for 12 weeks; it does not establish when, or whether, you will notice a change with Aeternum. Individual experiences vary.
Is it suitable for everyone?
